About

changing lives, one suit at a time!

100 Suits for 100 Men was founded in 2011 by Mr. Kevin Livingston that wanted to create a program to address the needs of underprivileged men and women in need of business attire in the New York City area.  In 2015, we obtained our 501 (c)(3) non-profit status.  Our core service is to provide free business attire to men and women who are in the job search process. By being able to wear appropriate attire to their interviews, these men and women are better equipped to achieve gainful employment, which will ultimately help them to transition into mainstream society and live more productive lives. Through this program, we also provide free haircuts for men and where needed, wig/salon referrals for women.

The 100 Suits for 100 Men mission is:
“The mission of 100 Suits for 100 Men is to help underprivileged men and women improve their role in society, build dignity and self-esteem, foster self-sufficiency, dispel stereotypes, and promote community involvement in order to build each other up.”

This organization has grown to include programs that address more than a suit.  100 Suits addresses socio-economic issues as well as injustice issues with its community involvement and activism,   making positive changes in the lives of men and women in the New York City area.  These solutions help those individuals get to a place of economic freedom help to reduce recidivism rates.

How 100 Suits is Making An Impact

the MALE BOUTIQUE
  • The Male Boutique
    • The Male Boutique is a model for 100 Suits for 100 Men. It is a new and innovative way to get young men “Dressed for the Part.” Our boutique is styled after a 5th Ave fashion store. Upon arrival, these young men are greeted by a boutique stylist that guides them through selecting a suit, tie, shirt, a haircut—if needed, and the proper way to assemble the professional look.  After the fitting, which includes free minor tailoring services, they sit down with a Men’s Talk specialist where further needs are addressed and referrals to our many partner programs are made.

As per the CEO, our motto is “The men walk in one way and walk out another.”

100 Suits ACADEMIES
  • 100 Suits Academy
    • 100 Suits Academy started in 2016, because of a young man bringing a gun to a school in Jamaica, Queens. The founder Mr. Kevin Livingston determined it was necessary to start a weekly mentoring service program. 100 Suits Academy provides financial literacy, brand development, free haircuts, entrepreneurialism, NYPD/community relations and most important “The Other Side of the Gun.” Our organization partners with a local funeral home to discuss the effects of gun violence in our community. This program is 3 months, during which each young man is given a free suit & bi-weekly haircuts. Upon completion, they participate in a graduation celebration. Currently, this program partners with the Dept. Of Education and other organizations close to home. This program is geared to at-risk young men or those already on parole or probation.

  • 100 Suits for 100 Women Academy
    • This program began to address the educational disparities among young at-risk girls.  100 Suits for 100 Women Academy provides trips, financial literacy, brand development, grooming tips, and entrepreneurialism. This program is 3 months long.  Upon completion, they participate in a graduation celebration. Currently, this program partners with the Dept. Of Education and other organizations close to home.  This program is geared to at-risk young ladies or those already on parole or probation.

  • 100 Suits Rikers Island
    • 100 Suits Rikers Island conducts monthly mentorship panels within Rikers Island Correctional Facilities. The panels consist of community leaders, business owners and everyday individuals who are interested in the change of our young people. This program began in September 2016 through the present and partners with the NYC Dept. of Corrections.

INTerns
  • 100 Suits Interns
    • 100 Suits for 100 Men works with at-risk youth and young adults to not only mentor them, but provide them with a structured environment where they can learn to work with others.  We have these young people intern at 100 Suits offices on Merrick Boulevard, assisting with helping the community in advocacy and or politics, other staff, and or our target population.  These young people come from various backgrounds, programs, and educational levels.
Workshops
  • Financial Literacy and Brand Development Workshops (Coming early 2018)
    • Our workshops aim to give the attendee a better understanding of financial literacy and brand development.  The student will leave knowing the basics of each principle, budgeting, building your credit, first impressions, etc.
A little More About Us
Some of our other community partners are the National Action Network (NAN), numerous pastors and churches, Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and Northern New Jersey, key individuals and politicians, and local media contacts.  In addition to the outside sources, the 100 Suits staff of volunteers are some of the most dedicated and valued assets of our organization.  However, more funding can bring more quality people to 100 Suits on a permanent basis, in addition to better fixed assets and better programs, thus the goal of more services to our target population.
Currently, 100 Suits services all ethnicities, genders, and sexual orientations.
